pulling fence posts

pulling fence posts

When erecting fences, there are some essential considerations to keep in mind. Of course, the kind of post one requires to secure the construction is paramount. Moreover, its size and depth are also important as these will be impacted by the quality of the ground in which it will be embedded.

When considering the effort involved in removing a typical post (with a height of 4-6 inches), one’s biggest consideration should be the post’s depth. Working to extract one set in exposed soil will be less grueling when opposed to tackling removal of one that has been embedded in concrete.

A fence post can be removed with relative ease if the right approach is taken. For instance, by digging away the soil around the post, one can get a firm grip on it and simply pull it away. Although, this course of action is most suitable when the post isn’t encased in concrete and may require additional steps in that scenario.

Struggling to remove the post with just your hands? No problem – a pry bar or claw hammer could be a massive help. Carefully slide the tool of your choosing underneath the post; this should give you enough leverage to get a better hold on it and then extract it from where it stands.

For a more comprehensive approach, you can chop the post at the base with a saw, an axe, or even brawny bolt cutters. Then, manually draw the post out of the earth for easy disposal.

Despite being a challenging exercise that could potentially consume quite a bit of your time, the effort you put in to extract fence posts can be successful with a strong will and the necessary equipment.
